Frequently Asked Questions

Q: "How far is the NorthShore Hostel from the beach?"

A: The NorthShore Hostel is a fifteen minute drive from Kanaha Beach Park. We are also very close to many of Maui's other fine beaches!

A: Yes. Please see our Links page for the Maui County Bus Route and Schedule.

Q: "Are you the same as the Aloha Windsurfer's Hostel? "

A: We purchased the Aloha Windsurfer's Hostel late 2003. We have consolidated the Aloha Windsurfer's Hostel and the Northshore Hostel at 2080 W. Vineyard St. in Wailuku. We apologize for any confusion this may cause travelers who are looking for the Aloha Windsurfer's Hostel.

Q: "Are children allowed to stay?"

A: "We only allow children 12 years or older supervised by an adult"

A:   Yes we do.  Located directly across the street from the Northshore Hostel there is FREE public parking.  The parking lot is well lit and easily accesible.

Q: "Are there any private rooms available?"

Q: "Are there attractions nearby?"

A: There are many attractions nearby, the most famous being the Iao Needle State Park which is within hiking distance of the hostel, but plan on driving to the beaches.

Q: "How is a hostel different from a hotel?"

A: Hostels typically don't offer all of the amenities which hotels offer ; private rooms do not have bathrooms or televisions and the kitchen is shared by everyone. However, our friendly staff will help you have a fantastic experience in paradise. Staying at a hostel is a great way to meet people!

Q: "I have never been to a hostel before. Are their special requirements to stay there?"

A: Yes we do have some criteria that must be met in order to stay at The NorthShore Hostel Maui. At the time of check-in you will need to present your proof of valid off island trip ticket and government issued photo identification.  We reserve the right to refuse service to anybody for any reason.
